Can I get a confirmation on this. Do jws think that 'graven image' means a statue or something?

unlike the wt would have you believe, "perfect" is not the same as "fine" (another one for my jw-english dictionary).
the graven image is the one that is made and moulded to be "fine" (finished) - and it's serious and hard - but it's dead.
to love it's an abomination, as love is living, tentative ('tent living'), growing and moving - the very meaning of life.

.
well it's official, well unofficially that is, you can count the time you spend online witnessing.

the sept. 22 awake has this letter from reader:.
shortly after my husband left me, i recieved the february 8, 2002, awake!
the cover on the wedding day was really hard for me to take.
My daughters have been raped and killed, but hey, check out that picture of a waterfall - thank you awake, I feel so much better now.
in 1989 i was in my freshman year of high school.
i became interested in the girl who was a jw.
basically you can tell what happen from here.
Hi Sgame,
I do agree with you about this bit "Because the witnesses do what the bible tells them to do" - yes, but the problem is that the bible tells them to do different things than what it tells us, but hey, if that's what they hear when they read it - there you go.
"Take heed then how you hear, for to him who has more will be given."
But as for this bit " T hey tell you what the bible says is the right thing to do " - I must protest that rather - they tell you what they think it says - what they heard.

we've been advised by australia's major network, channel nine, that their investigative programme entitled "silent witnesses" will go to air this sunday, september 22nd.
it'll be on the 'sunday' program much like dateline and panorama and will screen from 9 am to 11 am.the story itself will be around 40 to 45 minutes in length.
depending on the response from this story, they may decide to run the panorama story with a follow up on the aussie story the following weekend.
I hope it's good - the Sunday program is one of THE current affairs program in Australia - perhaps only second to ABCs Four Corners. Lotsa people will see the Sunday program, and it's often subsequently quoted by the daily current affairs shows.
I can hardly believe that it will be forty minutes long - that really is quite an exposure.

.... that would easily cover a quarter on my wall.
now, i don't mind the arachnid critters outside, but when they cross that boundary into my home, they're fair game.
if they are camped out on my window sill outside, i'll even name them - but not in my bedroom.
Here in Queensland Pope, we also have the bird-eating spider - and the cockies don't get much of a look in on them.

They're not so bad - just have to keep an eye on the washing. The snakes are a bit of a trip though - one came in the front door of our new place, a brown, seven foot or so, strong, going along with it's head up - and you could see it had intellegence - not smart enough to stay out of our house though.
But what I really don't like is those yellow centepedes, about 10" long, and they crawl over your feet quickly in the dark - make you real sick if they bite.
Spiders? that's the least of our worries.

does anyone know why the new world translation omits john 8:1-11?
john 8:1 - but jesus went to the mount of olives.
2- at daybreak, however, he again presented himself at the temple, and all the people began coming to him, and he sat down and began to teach them.
What did he say? (picking up stones)
Who cares, we are god's appointed judge - something in that book over there can be adjusted to back up our minds - don't you just hate sinners that get caught - let' s GET EM'
if all we have to worry about is nonexistence, then why worry about anything?
the worst that can happen is you peacefully sleep, forever.
Nothing I like doing more than stepping outside myself for an alternate view - too "see life".
Maybe as a spirit I'll be able to look around space as well (and beyond) - cool.
Perhaps satan fell to earth because that was his desire - the temporal things.

The jw stance
1. If I can't get what I want then I don't want to live. Only death can really defeat suffering, so don't be asking for things, just die already.
2. The worst thing that can happen to me is death: the bonus being that I can do what I want to other people within a certain level of immunity - very attractive to a**oles.
3. People who would prefer that suffering people keep on living are evil - death is better. Underlying belief - we're too busy and selfish to help others and actually we don't have any faith in the future (see our continuous end of the world ideas, and the futility of lending a hand).
4. Our God is actually a very scary and nasty tyrant, but he's very loving just like us, so the best thing to do is just kill people that aren't good - best for them and us. Underlying belief - we believe murder and burying the dead is the go.
